We will be implementing Ready for Kindergarten! and Read it Again! The goal of this program is to increase long-term school success through grade 12.
Gateways Early Learning Center is already providing premier curriculum and the students who attend are learning reading, writing and comprehension skills, early math skills, science experimentation and exploration, American Sign Language, basic Spanish, art, gardening and music.
We want our kids to have an optimum educational experience and most importantly we have a strong belief in learning through play and having fun. If our kids love coming to school now because school is an exciting place to be, we have done our jobs as teachers creating life-long learners.
Call (253) 383-0509 or (253) 219-7843 or email charity@gatewaysforyouth.org to learn more.

Children in urban and suburban centers have no clue how the food they eat arrives on their table. They can’t describe what it looked like before it was packaged in plastic or how it got to the store or food-bank shelves. Most cannot tell you what part of a plant produces berries and fruits and where to look for potatoes. It isn’t surprising then, that they have a difficult time understanding that the way food is produced is an important part of nutrition, cost and safety.
Children in corporate and large urban daycare centers do not have access to the natural environment. Even the occasional field trip to surrounding parks, zoos and natural environments are being curtailed at the insistence of insurance carriers and regulators, fearful of the potential for injury during transportation and exposure to unknown hazards that children and teachers may face in an unprotected public arena.
At Gateways Early Learning Center, our children take field trips to the natural environment just outside our doors, on the 31 acres of Jessie Dyslin Ranch.
They work in their own reserved garden plot, where they get to plant, grow and harvest fresh fruits, berries and vegetables. They see how food is produced and get hands-on lessons that help them discover through direct experience the differences between healthy nutrition, wise food choices and empty calories.
